In Section 2, you answered these questions:

The state of the environment around you is influenced greatly by both the government and the economy. Decisions about resources, jobs, and quality of life are made every day by government and industry. The development in the Alberta oil sands is an example of the impact that economic and government decisions can have on the environment and your quality of life.

In Section 2, you learned how land use affects Alberta's economy and environment. You had the opportunity to learn about various stakeholders' perspectives and the effects on your quality of life.

As a citizen of Canada, you have a role in the making of these decisions through the choices you make. You might choose to voice your opinion on an environmental issue, you might choose not to purchase goods from a polluting manufacturer, or you might join or form a group similar to the Students for Environmental and Social Advocacy. These opportunities enable you to be an active participant in your community.
