- The Seven Years' War (1756-1763) was fought between Britain and her colonies in North America and India, Prussia, and Hanover fighting against France, Austria, Sweden, Saxony, Russia, and eventually Spain. Britain refused to send troops to fight in mainland Europe, but it concentrated on the destruction of the French navy and merchant fleet, the seizure of its colonies, and the elimination of France as a commercial rival.
- The French and Indian War (1754-1763) was a conflict in North America between Britain and her colonies against France and her colonies, with both sides using native warriors. The war resulted in France's loss of all its possessions in North America, except for some Caribbean islands and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, two small islands near Newfoundland.
