What dominates this video?
- The video is dominated by a group of young men.
-
Who are the people in this picture? What are they doing?
- The men in this video are at a restaurant, eating, drinking Coke, and having a lot of fun. Everyone in the restaurant is young, well dressed, and faily good looking. They are dancing and doing tricks with their Coke bottles and jumping up on their chairs and dancing. Then, they seem to feel that they have broken some social rules of behaviour and they sit down. There is silence, and then everyone gets up and dances.
-
What feelings are conveyed by the subject(s)?
- Happiness but a little guilt. It's like they know they might be offending people or breaking the rules, but then everyone starts behaving the same way and they are all having fun.
-
Where and when did this occur?
- A restaurant in Korea in the modern day, probably in the evening
-
How do movement, lighting, camera angles, close-ups and special effects contribute to the message?
- Lots of movement and close-ups give the idea of the people's feelings. Overall, the film-making techniques contribute to the sense of fun and also the underlying feeling the men have that they are doing something wrong.
-
How does sound and music influence the message?
- First, the loud sound of the Coke bottle opening leads to silence. Then, everyone starts talking. The music is very lively — not at all Korean. It's got a latino beat. When the men realize they have gone over the top, there is silence.
-
What techniques of persuasion are used by the advertiser to make the product seem appealing?
- The ad appeals to the desire to have fun, the desire for togetherness, and the desire to be an individual.
-
What is the symbolic message of this video?
- Buy Coke, and you will have fun. Not just you, but everyone around you.
