Do you ever think about what you eat and wonder if it is healthy for you? Are you eating too much? Are you eating too little? Is there somewhere that you can look to find out what you should be eating? Canada’s Food Guide is an eating plan to help children, teens, and adults make healthy food choices. In this activity, you will learn about healthy lifestyles using Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.

There are seven main classes of nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy. These are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibre, and water. It is important to consume these seven nutrients on a daily basis to build and maintain your health.

The key to a healthy balanced diet is not to ban or omit any foods or food groups but to balance what you eat by consuming a variety of foods in the right proportions. In the activities below, you will learn about what types of foods you should be eating, as well as how much of each food you should be eating.

Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating can help you to understand what you should be eating and also how much of each item you should be eating to keep healthy. This is an interactive guide, so most of this activity will be spent working with the actual guide.
