Lesson 15:

Forms of Energy

Look around you. Is anything moving? Can you hear, see, or feel anything? Sure you can! This is because something is making those things happen, and there is probably some power at work. This power or ability to make things happen is what we can call energy. It makes things happen. It makes change possible.

Energy exists in many different forms. Examples of these are: light energy, heat energy, mechanical energy, electrical energy, sound energy, thermal energy, chemical energy, nuclear or atomic energy, and so on. These forms of energy can be transferred and transformed between one another. This is very important to us. For a source of energy to end up as electricity, it may undergo many transformations before it can power the light bulb in your home. In this lesson, you will learn about various types of energy and how energy can be converted to different forms.
