Why do people explore new lands?

Imagine what being the first explorer of a new world would be like.

Some people have decided that they would like to be among the first people to build a colony on Mars. Why would anyone want to do that? Some might want to do it for the adventure, to be the first inhabitants living there, to go where no one has gone before.

With the excitement of exploring a new land comes all the unknown factors such as how to ensure people’s safety, how to build a safe place to live, what they will eat, and determining if it is a sustainable place to live.
