Why did so many people want to migrate to Canada between 1815 and 1850?

As you learned earlier in the course, people want to become immigrants of a new country for many reasons such as a better life, employment, better climate, or more opportunities.

After the War of 1812, Britain wanted to have many people come to Canada so they could fill the colonies.

Did the new immigrants find a better life in their new home?  How was the Great Migration an attempt to confirm British identity in Canada?

What conditions in the colonies could lead to rebellions against the government?
