Expanding Confederation

History is a record of what has happened. Without it, we would not know why things are the way they are today.

Learning about our history provides us with a historical perspective of our traditions and values and where they came from.

For example, Cabot Tower (in the photo) is situated on Signal Hill in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The tower was completed in 1900 and is one of the most recognized symbols of Newfoundland. It commemorated the 400th anniversary of John Cabot’s discovery of Newfoundland.
