Chapter 13 Assessment

Technology that Changed Canadian Society

Many new forms of technology were adopted in Canada in the early 20th century.


  1. Your task for this assessment is to identify five changes in technology that were significant to Canadian society or identity prior to the 1960s.

  2. Construct a collage to show the five technological changes you have chosen.

  3. Explain how each technological change you have identified helped change Canadian society or identity.

  4. Then, choose one of the five technological changes and explain why it had the most significant effect on Canadian society.

  5. Choose one of the following formats to produce your collage.
        • Microsoft Word or other similar program that allows you to construct a collage
        • PowerPoint presentation
        • paper (this should be scanned and submitted)

          All formats require images and text.

Be sure your finished product includes all the following:

  • identification of five technological changes significant to Canadian society or identity before the 1960s

  • explanation of how each technological change helped change Canadian society or identity

  • identification and explanation of most significant technological change on Canadian society
