Page 2 Previewing and Analyzing Images

Do you ever browse, channel-surf, or web-surf?

Hundreds and thousands of options are available to us, through the media. People often scan quickly through various TV channels or websites, to find the best information.

The ability to sort through images and information quickly, is an important skill, which helps one to become a more efficient time manager.  Skimming allows the browser to get the general idea or meaning of a text.  Scanning allows the browser to search for specific information or answers to questions.

An image can be viewed in many ways. Close reading skills can be applied to analyzing images. This helps build critical thinking skills.

In previewing or quickly skimming an image, focus on key information such as the 5 Ws (who, what, where, when, and why). When analyzing, take a second look at an image for deeper comprehension. Each time you view an image, you may notice something different.
