Chronological Order
Chronological order organizes information by the time, when each event occurred. Non-fiction passages that are organized chronologically often contain dates.
"From Glenn to Glenn" is a text with a chronological timeline. It contains several structural clues to help readers:
- arrows show where to begin and in which direction to move your eye
- colours show the direction to read; the colour at the top of the first column, matches the colour at the bottom of the next column
- captions summarize main ideas, such as dates and subject of pictures
- headings and subheadings organize information according to key ideas, such as dates
- lines and dividers organize information so a viewer/reader can scan for specific details (in this article, boxes contain key dates)
