When writing a paper, article, report, or blog, you will need to provide links, or, at times, list sources at the end of your paper, which is called a bibliography. Sources are compiled
and included, usually on the last page of your report or biography paper. You will title the page Bibliography.
Read "Bibliographies" on pages 263-264 of ResourceLines 7/8.
To cite an Internet source follow these instructions:
*Author's last name, first name. "Title of Article/Website" URL. (Date updated or accessed).
Trowbridge Filippone, Peggy. "The History of Basil." https://www.thespruce.com/the-history-of-basil-1807566 (October 3, 2017)
* If you can not find an author for the article, omit that information and move on to the title of the article.
To cite books use the following information.
- Arrange the sources so they are in alphabetical order by the author's last name. If no author's name is given, alphabetize by the first main word of the title.
Use the examples as guides to punctuation in the various types of sources. Follow these guidelines:
- Book with one author:
Goodall, Jane. Hope for Animals and Their Word: How Endangered Species Are Being Rescued from the Brink. New York: Grand Central Publishing, 2011.
- Book with more than one author:
Appleby, Michael C., and Joy A. Mench. Animal Welfare. New York: CABI, 2011.
- Article in a magazine:
Carson, Beverley. "Last One". Maclean's, February 25, 2009, pp. 95-97.
- Article in a newspaper:
Dreifus, Claudia. "Why Do Species Go Extinct?" The New York Times, November 4, 2008, p. B37.
- Article in an encyclopedia:
Freedman, Bill, and D.E. McAllister. "Endangered Animals". The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2009.
- Video or film:
Endangered Animals. videotape. National Geographic Channel (London), 2013, 4 min., 50 sec.
- Radio or television program:
"Endangered Species". Nature. CBC, December 19, 1993.
- Interview:
Fidenci, Pierre (Founder and President of Endangered Species International). Interview. May 10, 2009.
