Your midterm exam consists of both multiple-choice and written responses.
- Some multiple-choice questions require you to recall information learned in Units 1-3. Some require you to answer questions after reading a piece of non-fiction.

The written response questions require you to respond to various pieces of writing.
This practice exam provides strategies for your responses to questions on your midterm exam.

Read the directions carefully.

Skim the multiple-choice section carefully to see what information is wanted, and to determine the amount of time you can afford to spend on this part of the test.
- Select the questions for which you know the answers and answer those first.

Use the test as a source of information. Often, the stem in one question will help you answer another one.

Read through the test a second time and answer more difficult questions.
You may see cues for answers from the first reading, or become more comfortable in the testing situation.

Tackle the most difficult questions last.
- If you have time when finished the test, review both questions and answers. Change a response only if you misread a question the first time.
