Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick

Ben and Rose secretly wish their lives were different. Ben wishes his mother were still alive and longs for a father he has never known. Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. Both children set out on quests to find out what they are missing. The two stories are set fifty years apart. Ben’s story is told in his own words. Rose’s is told through pictures. How the stories intertwine will surprise the reader.

"Ben wished the world was organized by the Dewey decimal system. That way you'd be able to find whatever you were looking for."

" What would it be like to pick and choose the objects and stories that would go in your own cabinet? ...Maybe, thought Ben, we are all cabinets of wonders."

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde

The wolves will not stop chasing Ben

through his dreams. They are wild and persistent, leaving paw prints in the snow.
