Themes of Ideologies
Ideologies consist of various ideas or themes. Some ideologies have certain themes in common. Through these themes, people craft their beliefs and ideologies. The things that people believe strongly help them to accept or reject ideologies and to act upon these beliefs. For example, if you decided that some people such as the jocks or preppies in your school received more benefits than others, you might organize a petition to make your concerns known.

Read "Themes of Ideology" on pages 26-27 in your textbook, Understandings of Ideologies. This will further your
understanding of the concept of themes of ideology.
You should make notes, either on paper or on your computer, about what you have read. You may want to read the tutorial How to Make Notes. When you are finished the tutorial, return here to continue this unit.
