The Soviet communist artist is being highly critical of the individualism of liberalism. The capitalist is shown as fat and greedy, grasping at his pile of gold coins, wealth made on the backs of workers.
Behind him he spreads a spider web (spiders being considered evil) over factories, which represents his control over the means of production. The smoke from the factories hovers as dark clouds, making the capitalist
seem oppressive. |
