Course Introduction
Welcome to Science 10!

In this course you'll gain an understanding of the fundamentals of the four main disciplines of science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth science. There are 4 units in this course:- Cycling of Matter in Living Systems (Biology)
- Energy and Matter in Chemical Change (Chemistry)
- Energy Flow in Technological Systems (Physics)
- Energy Flow in Global Systems (Earth Science)

This course requires you to use the Addison Wesley Science 10 textbook. You can either rent it from us or from your school.

You will also need a copy of this data booklet. Please make sure you click on the icon to download a copy to your computer. You can then choose to print it off or keep a copy saved on your computer.
You will be provided with a copy of it during both your midterm and final exams. You should use your data booklet throughout the course to ensure that you are familiar with it when it comes to exam times.

your assignments will often direct you to pages to review though their names. These names are found in the table of contents.

Once you have completed a unit, you will be brought back to the course home page so that you can move on to the next unit.
This course requires you to complete many simulations and interactives. This gives you different ways to work with the content, making sure that you understand those concepts. The curriculum also requires you to complete labs, which are done through
these simulations and interactives. Please make sure that you complete all activities within the course. If you have any problems, please contact your teacher for help.
There are a few different types of assignments found in the course. Click on each tab below to find out more information about each one. There is also more information further on in this course introduction.
These are found after the first lesson of each section in a unit. These assessments are designed to make sure you are understanding what you are reading and learning about in that lesson. There are 12 of these assessments. These are
completed online.
These are found after each section in a unit. They are your opportunity to show what you have learned in the unit so far and are more marks. There are 12 of these assignments. Most of these are completed online, with some on paper.
These projects are found at the end of each unit. They are projects designed to help you review the unit, and put together the concepts that you have learned. You will have options to choose from for each project. There are 4 of these projects.
These assignments are designed to help you study for your midterm and final exams. They are not for marks, but they must be completed and reviewed by your teacher before you are able to write those exams. There are 2 of these review assignments
and they are completed on paper.
These exams are supervised. They will be sent to your teacher once you have completed all the assignments leading up to the exam. You are able to use a calculator and your data booklet on these exams. There are 2 supervised exams and they
will be completed on paper.
