By this time in your high school career, you have had many interesting experiences and have encountered obstacles and success in various activities. In this course, you will continue to learn about ways to communicate with others for various purposes. You will have opportunities to share your experiences as well as to plan for the future.

The English 30-4 course consists of five themes of study, including a novel study. Each theme focuses on various aspects of communication and all the elements of language arts: listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and representing.

The first theme is Communication and Identity. This theme has five lessons on exploring the thoughts, ideas, feelings, and experiences of both yourself and others through various strands of communication. Throughout this theme, you will be learning more about identity and various ways in which you and others can communicate and express your personalities for various purposes.
