Lesson 8 — Activity 3:
Exploring Setting in the Movies
Many people read stories for enjoyment. There are numerous other ways to enjoy stories as well. People enjoy stories told aloud by teachers, friends, relatives, and others. They go to see plays and musicals. Some people draw or paint pictures showing
scenes from stories, and of course, writers, producers, and actors have created a multimillion dollar industry out of storytelling on the "big screen."
What was the first movie you watched? What is your favourite movie? What was the most recent movie you viewed? Was it in a theatre, online, in your living room, on an iPad or tablet? Where is your favourite place to watch a movie? Storytelling is not
something from the past; it happens all day, every day especially in the form of movie viewing! Movies are a very important part of Canadian culture and of many cultures worldwide.
