Lesson 17:

Knowing Yourself for the World of Work

What do I want to do for the rest of my life? Where will I be in five years? Ten years? How can I decide what career is best for me? These may be questions that you have already asked yourself, and they are important questions to think about.

Career planning is thinking about where you are now, where you want to be, and how you are going to get there. It starts with you — knowing yourself in terms of your values and attitudes, interests, abilities, and skills. Understanding your interests, abilities, and skills are key to finding a career in which you will be successful. In this lesson, you will look at all of these areas so you can decide on a career that is right for you!
