Introductory Unit Assessment

What is my worldview?

For this assessment, you will create a web, paragraph, or speech that describes your worldview and the elements that contribute to it. This assessment will be submitted to your teacher for evaluation.

Follow the steps below to complete the Introductory Unit Assessment.


Step 1:  Review the worldview icon in Figure 3 on page 4 of the textbook.

Step 2:  Review the Thinking About the Worldview Elements chart on page 5 of the textbook. 

The questions provided for each worldview element help guide your thinking about each of the elements.

Step 3:  Choose 3 or 4 of the worldview elements from the chart to help you describe your worldview.  Use the questions in the chart to explore the elements of worldview you have chosen.

Step 4:  Be sure to provide details that describe your worldview and how the elements contribute to it.


Choose one of the following three options.


Construct a mind map that shows what influences your worldview.


  1. You may use a mind-map making program or you can create your own mind map.
  2. Identify the elements from the worldview icon and describe your worldview.
  3.  Provide details about how the elements affect your worldview.

Write a paragraph that describes your worldview.


  1. Identify the elements from the worldview icon and describe your worldview.
  2. Provide details about how the elements affect your worldview.

Deliver a speech that describes your worldview.


  1. Use Vocaroo to deliver your speech. 
  2. Identify the elements from the worldview icon and describe your worldview.
  3. Provide details about how the elements affect your worldview.

Be sure your final product includes the following:

  • You have discussed 3 or 4 worldview elements in your presentation.

  • You have described your worldview (using the worldview elements).

  • You have provided details to describe your worldview and the elements that contribute to it.
 Remember to read the rubric to know what is expected of you, no matter the option you choose.
