Unit 1

Renaissance: The Origins of a Western Worldview

Lesson 1

What factors influenced the increase of trade between Western Europe and the East during the Renaissance?

Marco Polo's journeys were unusual in that he travelled much further east than most Europeans had.

The major reason for this lack of travel is that going east was a long, long way, and travel was much more difficult than it is today.

In Lesson 1, you will learn about how geography influenced trade between the East and Western Europe.

  • Crusade
  • Muslim
  • Silk Road
