Machiavellian
Does any group or individual inspire you to take an interest in your community or in a cause? Have you ever been motivated to join a group, write a letter, or protest a problem?
The humanism of the Renaissance drew people into interest in their communities. Civic humanism encouraged people to become involved in their communities, and many did.
Because of the political struggles within the city-states and the wars of one city-state against another, humanists came to believe that strong leadership was the answer to their political and business problems. Thus began a debate on who the leaders should be and what kind of leadership was best.
