      • Answer the following questions in your Reading/Study Guide.

        • Did the Europeans have much respect for the Indigenous people?
        • What did Europeans think the Indigenous people were good for?
        • Would the Europeans have treated other Europeans this way? Why?

  1. Read "Zoom In" on page 135 of your textbook. (Note: "Put to the sword" means they killed people.)
      • Answer the following questions in your Reading/Study Guide.

        • Why did the Spanish soldiers kill the Indigenous people?
        • What does their behaviour, and that of the settlers who demanded laws to protect Indigenous people by repealed (cancelled), tell us about their view of the Indigenous people?

        • What was the cost of imperialism to the Aboriginal people?
