Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain were Roman Catholics, and they took their faith very seriously. The pope gave them a special title – Catholic Monarchs.


Religion had a very important role in Spain and was very much reflected in their worldview.

Spain became Christian again after years of terrible struggle. This struggle affected the rule of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.
