Lesson 4B: Multiplying & Dividing Rational Expressions

When working with fractions, often you must multiply or divide a given value.

Susan measured cups of milk, but she decided to cut her recipe in half. How much milk does she need?
Todd wants to buy kg of potatoes. If they cost $1.40 per kilogram, how much will the potatoes cost?

In previous math courses, you have learned how to solve these types of problems using operations such as multiplication and division with fractions. In this Training Camp, you will extend your skills and learn how to perform multiplication and division with rational expressions.

By the end of this lesson, you should be able to

determine the non-permissible values when multiplying or dividing two rational expressions
determine, in simplified form, the product of quotient of two rational expressions
