Find the value of log2128.

In Unit 6, you were introduced to exponential equations. To solve, your first step was to write both sides of the equation with the same base. If that was not possible, you solved graphically. In the remainder of this lesson, you will study a method to solve any exponential equation without graphing.

This method involves one of the first properties you learned about solving algebraic equations - whatever you do to one side of an equation, you must also do to the other side to keep the equation balanced. This means you can take the logarithm on both sides of an equation as a first step towards solving the equation.

M = N

logM = logN
