A portfolio is a collection of documents related to a particular topic. Portfolios are very flexible tools that can be used for many purposes. For this lesson, you will learn how you can use a portfolio to keep track of various materials. This will be
helpful when you are looking for employment.
When creating a portfolio for school, you demonstrate your skills and abilities in a particular subject area, or show the improvement in your work over a period of time. You might compile a collection of certificates and awards to show what skills or talents you have mastered. You might also include letters of reference or recommendations from employers that show how pleasant you are to work with, pictures of trophies or awards you have won, or videos that demonstrate some of your skills. Depending on the purpose and what you want to accomplish, you can create a portfolio with the content you need in a format that will best represent the parts of your personality and skills that you want to demonstrate.
