5.3 Negative い Adjectives

Let's look at how to change い adjectives into their negative form.  

Step 1.  Take the い adjective that you want to change into the negative.  おいしい

Step 2.  Chop off the い (now you are left with the stem of the adjective).  おいし＿

Step 3.  Add くない.  おいし くない

Putting くない onto the adjective makes the adjective negative. 
おいしくない means "not delicious."

すしはどうですか。 How is the sushi?


すしはおいしくないです。　The sushi is not delicious.

When you want to change the adjective いい (good) to the negative, it does not follow the above rules.

いい changes to よくない for "not good."

テレビ(terebi)はよくないです。　　TV is not good.
