NGOs and Grassroots Organizations
NGO means Non-Government Organization. NGOs work on local, national, or international levels, independently of the government, on issues such as environment, health, or human rights.
Grassroots organizations are groups of people who work together on environmental, political, or social issues.

Introduction
Some famous NGOs you may have heard of include YWCA/YMCA Canada, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, Get Cracking (eggs.ca), Kids Help Phone, Participation, and Media Smarts (previously Media Awareness Network). Each of these organizations has its own logo, many of which you recognize when you see them. But what is an NGO? What are grassroots organizations?
