Lesson 13 — Activity 3: Using Online Conversion Tools



Getting Ready


Now that you have learned about and practised converting metric and imperial measurements, it might be interesting to explore and use online conversion tools.

You will do this in this last activity.                   

                        


There are many websites available to you for converting measurements. These sites can be very helpful when you are on the go, from taking a road trip, to following a new recipe, to making conversions on the job site.

Let's practise using one such site.

  1. Click here to go to an online conversion website.
  2. Scroll down until you come to the Length Conversion.
  3. Enter the quantity (amount) that you want to convert. For this example, let's try 25.
  4. Let's convert FROM centimetres (scroll down until you find centimetre/s [cm]) TO metres (scroll down until you find metre/s [m])
  5. Click on the "Convert Length" button.
  6. What is the answer?

Did you get 0.25 metres? That is correct!



Let's try another one:
1. Scroll down until you come to Temperature Conversion.
2. Enter the amount you want to convert. For this example, let's try 18.
3. Let's convert FROM Celsius TO Fahrenheit.
4. Click on the "Convert Temperature " button.
5. What is the answer?


Did you get 64.40? That is correct!
