What causes climate change? Scientists are not yet sure. One hypothesis is the environment can cause changes in the climate.
Changes in cloud cover, volcanoes, solar energy, fires, oceans, and animal activity can cause climate change.

For example, termite mounds slow the spread of deserts and preserve grasslands. They are engineering marvels of designed climate control. Yet, some scientists observe termite mounds are large contributors to greenhouse gasses.
Oceans contain much more carbon dioxide than the atmosphere and can release large amounts of carbon dioxide if they are warmed or the pH is changed.
