Wetlands have well-adapted plants, insects, and animals. What are their characteristics?

In this lesson, you will learn about the kinds of plants, insects, and animals you are likely to find in a wetland.

  Science Connection

Finding who lives in a wetland can be a challenge because, in addition to ducks and dragonflies, much of the wildlife that lives in wetlands is microscopic.  Every drop of water in a wetland contains zooplankton (food for small creatures).  A scientist with a microscope can see much in the samples he or she takes!

Studying these insects can help us learn about more than the wetland – we can learn about the complete environment.
