1.2 How are plant and animal wastes recycled in nature?
1.3 What makes waste biodegradable?
Humans make waste. Do you know that waste is produced in nature as well? Nature is great at recycling used or dead materials into something useful. When living and non-living things are recycled in nature, soil is improved.
Video
Watch the Composting video from the Edmonton Waste Management site to see how they use composting, which is natureβs way of recycling, to help put nutrients back into the soil.
Science Connection

Have you discovered some leftovers in your fridge that have been there too long? Maybe you have seen apples that fallen have from a tree and were rotting on the ground. The old food or rotten apples may not have looked or smelled good, but they were being recycled by nature!
