How to Work Through this Course
Pre-assessments
Before you begin a unit, you will do a Pre-assessment. This activity is designed to help you to identify what you already know about the topic. Suggested answers are provided for you, so check your answers carefully. It is also a great time to touch base with your teacher.

Unit Overviews and Learning Targets
At the beginning of a unit you'll find a brief and interesting unit overview on what you'll be studying in the unit. You will also find an essential question and BIG questions, make sure you read them, as they are meant to focus your brain on the material you will learn.
The first page after the Unit Overview are the Learning Targets – make sure you click on all the tabs and read all the targets, they state what you need to learn for the unit.

The Section Introductions have the BIG question and Inquiry questions for the section. These are the questions that focus your learning for that part of the unit. This is also where you will find a vocabulary word cloud and the list of materials you will need.
The section introductions also have a very important Section Checklist that identifies the work that needs to be completed in that Section.

Lessons and Self-Checks
The lessons are the most important part of the course. Here you will find all sorts of reading, instructions, activities, and videos – you should not skip anything in the lessons, it's all there to make sure you get the information you need to learn. Self-Checks, found after most lessons, are mini-quizzes that are not for marks, but let you know if you are on the right track.
