Unit D: Electrical Principles and Technologies

Learning Targets

Unit Overview

There are many uses for electricity in our world, but they are not always obvious. Take for example a large city at night; it is filled with bright lights that are obviously using electricity. But in where else is electricity being used in a city? Have you thought about the elevators in the hotels?  The cars on the streets? The way the buildings cool themselves?  Electricity is the underlying principle for thousands of technologies we use today.

Unit Breakdown

Essential Question

Why is it important to understand the basics of electricity in our world?

This unit has four sections, each containing a BIG question that will focus your study.  Within each section is a series of lessons with Inquiry Questions to help you answer that BIG question.  Before you finish each section, you are asked to demonstrate your understanding of the BIG question in one of several ways.
