Transformations
Using Mapping to Determine the Equation of a Transformed Function from its Graph
Mapping is the relating of one set of points to another set of points, such that every point in the original set corresponds to exactly one point in the second set. Mapping can be a useful tool when trying to determine what transformations have been performed on the graph of a function.The transformation that relates a function and its image can often be determined by looking at how individual points are mapped from one function to the other. This is most easily seen by looking at the graphs of the functions.
Mapping notation can be used to show what happens to each coordinate under the transformation.
