The elements of a mixed economy may include the following freedoms:
  • Freedom to to own the means of production
  • Freedom to participate in government and corporate decision-making
  • Freedom to choose what to buy or sell
  • Freedom to communicate (advertise products, speak against inappropriate business activity, speak against government intervention)
  • Freedom of assembly (labour unions, professional associations, non-profit organizations, corporate organizations
  • Freedom from excessive poverty (social programs, income assistance, childcare benefits)

The elements of a mixed economy may include the following rights:
  • Right to an education (schools, libraries)
  • Right to health
  • Right to communicate (telecommunication networks)
  • Right to protection from harm (police services, workplace safety regulation, product safety regulations, environmental protection)
