Course Set-Up
What is in my course?
There are 12 units of study in Social Studies 5. Working through the course is easy.
-
Start at Unit 1 and move through the units in order.
- At the end of each unit, you will return to the Homepage. From here, you simply click on the next unit of study and continue moving forward.
As you work through the units, you move through various pages. They include:
- Lesson
-
The 'Target', or 'what you need to learn', is listed at top of this page followed by a short introduction to the lesson.
- Lesson Inquiry
-
Each Lesson Inquiry begins by identifying the question(s) for which you will find answers. The Resources for Inquiry are listed to help you research and find the answers.
- Self-Check
- Self-Checks allow you to see if you are understanding the concepts that you just studied. You are allowed an unlimited amount of attempts for these. Therefore, redo them often! These are NOT graded.
- Exit Pass
-
An Exit Pass allows your teacher to gather information about your
learning in an informal manner. These activities are mandatory but they
are NOT worth any marks.
- Assessment
- You will find various types of summative (for marks) assessments of your learning as you go through the lessons. Each unit contains 1-5 summative assessments that are submitted to your teacher for grading. These assessments are your opportunity to show your teacher your understanding of the concepts.
There is a final exam in this course.
