Introduction

When people draw maps of Canada's regions, they do not always draw them the same.

Look at these maps of Canada:

The one on the left shows the physical regions of Canada. The map on the right shows the provinces of Canada.  The regions do not exactly match the provinces. One region does not stop suddenly on a line and a new region starts.  Most provinces have more than one region within their boundaries. The regions flow naturally into one another as the land formations change.

For example, if you have driven to the mountains, you have noticed that the flat land becomes hilly before you reach the mountainsβ€”and on the region map,  that change is shown by a line where this transition occurs in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.

Proceed with the lesson to find details of the characteristics of the regions of Canada.
