What do the lines on the globe mean?
These are latitude and longitude lines. They are used to locate places on maps.

With these lines, we can find an address for any particular place on the surface of the earth.
Here is an easy way to remember these terms:
  • Longitude  
  • Focus on the long part in the word. "Long"itude goes up and down, like long hair.

  • Latitude 
  • You can use the word laddertude to help you remember that latitude goes from side to side like the rungs on a ladder.  The words sound alike.
