How are Distance and Time Related?
Our planet, Earth, takes 24 hours to complete one full rotation on its axis. Since there are 360 degrees in a circle, the sun moves through 15 degrees of longitude in one hour. Our planet, Earth, is also divided into 24 time zones. Each time zone is 15 degrees of longitude wide and extends from the north to the south poles.
The time zone to the east of where you live is one hour ahead of your time, while
the zone to the west is one hour behind.
