Introduction


Water is an important part of life in the region called the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands.  The First Nations used the lakes and rivers to travel on and, later, French and English explorers and settlers used the waterways for travel.  Today, the lakes and rivers are still used to transport people and goods.
