How do historical photographs tell a story from the past?


   Instructions


Do the following:
  • Examine the photographs carefully, thinking about the questions asked, and writing down any questions you have about them.
  • Study the chart on the bottom of page 131.
  1. Look at the three photographs on the Lesson 7  introduction page (previous Moodle page).
  2. Look at the Textbook photographs - p. 131.
  3. Examine the above photos carefully using these questions:

    • Where could the photo have been taken?  How can you tell?
    • In what season was the photo taken?  How can you tell?
    • Likely, in what region was the photo taken?  How can you tell?
    • Who are these people?  What gives you hints?
    • Why could someone have taken this photo?  What is important enough to arrange for a photograph?  (Remember that photographs were rare and expensive.)
    • Who might have taken the photo?
    • What details in the photos give you extra information?
