How did Canadians feel about the war?

Remember to think about multiple perspectives. How did the anglophones feel about the war? How did the francophones feel about the war?
Be aware that not all people felt the same way. For example, Georges P Vanier, Canada's first Francophone Governor General, willingly served in WWI. He fought at Vimy Ridge, the battle which allowed Canada to take its place on the world stage. Even though he was wounded and his leg was amputated, he refused to return to Canada.
