Welcome to Science 20 Online!

Science 20 is an academic science course the requires 100 - 125 hours to complete.  It is a misconception that it is an easier course, it is just a general science course, much like science 10.
The students who have success in this course do the textbook readings and questions suggested, then do the assignments (which are 'open book'), and carefully make notes on the feedback they get from the assignments.  They use the unit review assignments effectively to prepare for the midterm and final exams.
Less successful students tend to open the activities and search their textbook for the answers.  Many shortcut the learning process by searching the answers online.  This has often lead to failing or barely passing final grades.  Be careful using online resources, like Yahoo Answers.  Not all of the answers are correct, or even on topic.  When using online resources make sure you understand the question, and when you find an answer, answer in your own words  in a way the you understand.  that way you will more likely actually learn.
Science 20 will begin with Unit D : Ecology.  It is shorter and most student find it easier.  Next is Unit A:  Chemistry.  IN general it is more challenging and requires more time to master the required skill.  At that point there will be a supervised midterm exam and you can judge how effectively you have been using this online course to learn.
Another more challenging unit follows with Unit B:  Physics.  Then the course wraps up with an easier, but longer fact based unit in earth science.
Each unit has a review assignment.  When these assignments are done independently (without searching the internet) they are a great indicator of how you are doing.  They are also the best tool you have to prepare for exams.  Do you best work on these assignments, and go over the comments carefully.
This course is offered on a computer product called Moodle.  Science 20 assignments are called quizzes by Moodle, but they are assignments!  You should use your textbook and notes to complete them.  Exams are supervised and the Data Booklet is required.  Students should be very familiar with it
