Icons and Assessment


Terms

On your desktop, create a folder called Science 6. Inside your Science 6 folder, create 4 other folders. Name these as follows:

These folders are called "Notebooks" in the course.  They will contain your assignment files.

Icons



Throughout the course you will encounter icons that are there to help you navigate the course. Here is a list to help you get familiar with these:

Icons Descriptions
This is the Target icon which identifies what you are to learn in each lesson.
This is the Notebook icon which identifies when you are required to save downloaded files or activities you saved in your Unit Notebook Folder.
This is the Observe icon which identifies a type of activity you will complete in this course.

This is the Discover icon which identifies a type of activity you will complete in this course.
This is the Explore icon which identifies a type of activity you will complete in this course.
This is the Connection icon which identifies connections to other disciplines.
This is the Checklist icon which identifies a PDF download of the unit activities and assessments for you to help track your progress.
This is the Skill Builder icon which identifies links to instructions on 'how to complete' a certain task; for example, 'how to use PowerPoint' or 'how to write a paragraph'.
This is the Self-Check icon which identifies when you are required to correct your own work, check your understanding of a concept, or complete a self-assessment to rate your level of understanding of a concept. These are not for marks.
This is the Share It icon which identifies when you are to share on the class discussion board.
This is the Video icon which identifies a video that you are required to view.
This is the Lesson icon which identifies the pages on which important content is presented.
This is the Exit Pass icon which identifies activities that your teacher will use to check your understanding. These are not for marks.
This is the Assessment icon which identifies assignments that are for marks.
This is the Rubric icon which identifies a PDF download that will outline the expectations of the assessment.
