When people think of the word "valuable", they often think of money. In that sense, trees and forests are valuable.

However, "value" can mean more than just money. If you value breathing clean air, trees are more than valuable. If trees all died suddenly, there would be unpleasant consequences for our air, water, soil, and the environment in general. Not only that, forests are home to 80% of the world’s species such as slugs, salamanders, worms... Yuck! These animals may be a bit icky, but what they have in common is they rely on the forest floor for their homes and food.

You might have thought of some of the benefits of trees listed above, but have you thought about how trees control noise, act as wind breaks, and add beauty?
