Observe: Forest Food Chain


Trees are a very important part of the forest food chain because, as other plants, they are producers that turn energy from the sun into food.  In the forest, consumer animals eat the food that trees and other plants produce, and other animals eat those animals.  This is known as a food chain.  Food chains such as the one below use arrows to indicate the flow of energy from one organism to another.
