Trees are valuable because they can be made into many different items.

Many kinds of trees all over the world are cut to meet the demand for tree products.  In Alberta, forestry provides over $9 000 000 000 (that’s nine billion dollars) to the economy each year, and it employs about 40 000 (that’s forty thousand) people.

Canada has one of the largest forestry industries in the world.

Did you know animals use trees as a construction material as well?

Beavers use wood to make dams. They too take forest products out of their environment and move them elsewhere.   Amazing!
